The Story of Dumaguete

The week-long celebration will begin on   September 20 to 30, 2019 . Dumaguete is known as” City of Gentle People” beacause of the hospitality in how the people of Dumaguete treat   their visitors. From a derived Visayan phrase “ Pakig Sandurot” which    means to   join in, the Sandurot Festival was created. The first event that was held at the Rizal Boulevard is the Panghimamat 2019 which means that we, Dumaguetenos always have a warn welcome of the neighboring towns, islands and other countries to our Beloved city.     Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo leads the opening of the 31 st Sandurot Festival ; it was also attended by other local officials of Dumaguete City, Vice Governor Dr.Mark Macias, Board   Member Mariant E. Dinner for a Cause for Museum Eclesiastico de Tanjay

  The St. James the Greater Parish Tanjay City had recently ­organised a fundraising ­charity dinner for a cause to support the ongoing construction of Museo Eclesiastico de Tanjay inside the Parish Church Compound.  The current exhibition showcases many of the most important religious sculptures, paintings old photos, and priceless artifacts. The Ecclesiastical Museum will also connect us to the rich religious heritage of every Tanjayanon. According to Architect Joshua  Tabasa the one who designed the Parish Museum the target month to finish will be next month in a time of the Apostolic Nuncio visit to Negros Oriental this October.  The Tanjay Church traced back in history as the oldest parish in Negros Oriental. Remembering Rizal in Dumaguete

In Dumaguete City, the commemoration, held at Quezon Park, was spearheaded by the Order of the Knights of Rizal Negros Oriental Chapter and the Rizal Youth Club of Silliman University. Dumaguete Presidencia declared 'Important Cultural Property'

The City Government of Dumaguete  aims to inspire Dumaguetenons to protect, preserve and promote our Historical significant  and outstanding cultural properties in partnership with the  National Museum of the Philippines (NMP) , concerned public, private, civil society and stakeholders.   The original Presidencia or City hall  was built in 1937 by the well-known Architect Juan Marcos de Guzmán Arellano, which gives the structure its historical significance and Heritage to the city. Concert for the Children of Buglas

February started with a musical concert for the benefit of the children of Dreams project for the Arts Philippines and to help the children of Buglas for the art Projects. International Jazz Artist Jojo van Oeveren , Broadway Actor and Stage Director Miguel C. Braganza,Asian Singing tenor champion Prof. Manolito E. Saldivar and young performers of today’s generation gave us a two hours of awesome OPM and Broadway musical treat  in the beautiful Claire Isabel McGill Luce Auditorium. The concert was full pack of Arts and Culture advocates led by Mayor Ipe Remollo, Hon. Jessica “IKAY” Villanueva, Hon. Mariant Escaño Villegas,Penn T.Larena,Rose Stapel,Eva and Greg Villegas, Nora & Buddy Ravello, Fe Amor,Alex & Tichie Baena , Ma. Turn over of Talay Project

Public and Private Partnership showing   the camaraderie of a group of volunteers and a dvocates for mental health inaugurated the comfort room facilities for male and female residents admitted in theTalay Rehabilitation and Psychiatric Center Dumaguete City. Each facility has bath and toilet stalls. This is a joint project of Consumers Advocate Inc ( CAI) ,Dumaguete City Festival & Arts Society Inc ( DUFAS), City Government of Dumaguete under Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo,   CITI Hardware ,NOPH Cooperative and the Silliman University Medical Center Foundation Inc for the past three years the Talay Toilets built Project has made into reality . Fundraiser ,donation and talking to kindhearted individuals for the less fortunate brothers and sisters Talay Rehabilitation and Psychiatric Center.It was my advocacy   to help and volunteer for Talay since was 17 year old when I was a member of Rover Scouts Circle 01 and Silliman History Society ,activities like feeding program
