In Dumaguete City, the commemoration, held at Quezon Park, was spearheaded by the Order of the Knights of Rizal Negros Oriental Chapter and the Rizal Youth Club of Silliman University.

The Philippine Spanish Friendship week kicked off with the 85 th  anniversary of the Jose Rizal Monument in Tanjay City.The Monument is a legacy of every Tanjayanon built in 1935 during the American Regime.
