85 years old Rizal Monument : A legacy of every Tanjayanon



The Philippine Spanish Friendship week kicked off with the 85th anniversary of the Jose Rizal Monument in Tanjay City.The Monument is a legacy of every Tanjayanon built in 1935 during the American Regime.

Tanjay is a place where early Hispanic culture blossoms like a skies that spread the wings to generation to  generation.A melting pot of traders, merchant ,missionaries and hardworking individuals

Tanjay Rizal Park is an urban park located in the Heart of the city. It is almost a hectare in size bounded in the east by Osmeña Street and the City Hall; on the West by Pacifico Street; on the south by Gomez St. and on the North by Rizal St. ; Immaculate Heart Academy and St. James the Greater Parish Church and Tanjay Church Museum.


Jose Rizal Monument in Tanjay  City  & Sir Charles L.Tuozo ,KCR 

The monument depicts Rizal in an overcoat holding a book, that represents his novels Noli Me Tángere and El Filibusterismo.the administration of the late Hon.Crispiniano Limbaga  and Hon. Ricardo R. Teves as the town President and Vice President, respectively. It was successfully erected jointly through the efforts of both public and private individuals. Noted prominent Tanjayanon who shared his valuable efforts and raised funds for the realization of the statue and monument was the late Spanish Professor. Mariano Calumpang Munoz ( 1889-1957)with the  help of Tanjayanon families Calumpang, Limbaga, Gonzales, Villacampa, Munoz and Teves Clan.

Tanjay City  Mayor Reynaldo Concepcion made the park a new facelift  for the improvement, beautification, and renovation of the Rizal Park there to make it look like Luneta Park in Manila.
