On a sunny day, under a clear blue sky, a significant moment in Dumaguete City's history unfolded as the community gathered to unveil the 8-foot statue of Dr. Jose Rizal, the Philippines’ national hero.  Silliman University (SU) held its 9th Floral Offering Ceremony on August 9, 2024, in honor of Dr. David Sutherland Hibbard and Mrs. Laura Hibbard, the couple who founded Silliman Institute in 1901. The event, organized by the SU Elementary School of the College of Education, was a significant part of the annual Founders Day celebration and took place at the statue of Dr. David Sutherland Hibbard in front of Hibbard Hall.
