Once again, the Baena clan is gathering for a family breakfast day reunion event, hosted by the Jose Baena bloodline branch led by Titit Baena –Aguilar, Nieca  Baena, and Alfonso Baena Jr &  Family to welcome our dear cousin Elena Andrea and brother Eric Leonard Baena Manalang

The family celebrated the great legacy of its ancestors in a  breakfast family reunion held  in Lantaw restaurant in Dumaguete City that served continental and Filipino breakfast

Baena la Familia  is one of the oldest and most prominent clan in Bais City Negros Oriental The family trace back its roots in Cadiz Spain with our patriarch  Don. Francisco Baena and Doña

Don. Bruno Gomez 

Antonia Eliza Gil  Garcia from a farmer, military and adventurous traveller who came to the Philippines engaged   in the sugar industry .

In 1871 Cadiz Spain born Don Ramon a Spanish military officer  and  brother Don Diego Garcia Baena a Spanish navy officer  who was assigned in Havana,Mexico and Far East the Philippines.After serving the colonial government they settle in Carcar Cebu and find their way to Negros Island.The two brothers met the  Spanish mestiza Gomez sisters Tomasa and  Brigida daughter of Don Bruno Vaquero Gomez & Ramona Ramos Gonzales established their  hacienda in Bais and Tanjay area.

Tomasa remarried to Don Luis Burgos the husband of the sister in law  Maria Nieves Baena Burgos and Brigida remarried to Don.Quiterio LLera Abilla 

Uncle Ben Baena shown the younger generation of our clan a

big family tree  that would trace our relationship as family relatives to the Gomez, Gonzales,Diago,Burgos, Abilla, and Vicente Hermanos.The family members shared a good memories of everlasting stories of cousin and friends.

From a  Spanish colonial officers —to a statesmen,Heroes, Governors and, a congressmen,sugar planter  an military captain, engineers and professionals,Doctor, Civic leader,Lawyer, teachers, visual artists, musicians, writers and poets—the Baena La Familia  family has surely gone a long way in carving our place in Negrense history, warts and all.
