Jana Jumalon is one of Dumaguete’s most prolific contemporary artists. She has made her art career in Negros Oriental for more than twenty years, establishing her presence not only in the realms of painting, mixed media, and music, but in ceramics as well.

In celebration with Arts Month for February 2024, we from the National Museum of the Philippines – Dumaguete aims to showcase the art works of Jana Jumalon. We intend to showcase a variety of earthenware she has created throughout her career, curated by the artist herself.

This exhibition is a reflection on the breadth of an artist's vast study of a medium rooted in our culture for thousands of years, pulling from the utilitarian kulon to the abstract expression of sculpture to the contemporary explorations of pottery today. Witness an artist's playful spirit captured in clay through a curation of pieces selected from a collection more than twenty years in the making.

Starting on February 13, dive into the world of contemporary pottery with one of our best, Jana Jumalon, as we travel through some of her most prolific pottery made throughout her career as an artist.
