Literary Arts Development in Negros Oriental

  Dumaguete City is the center of learning for Literature and creative writing. One of the legacies is the National Summer Creative Writing Workshop the oldest in Asia, every May writers from all over the country gather here and in Camp lockout in Valencia Negros Oriental for learning and fellowship among the creative minds.       The influence of English language and literature by our American Missionaries from Silliman,American Thomasites of Negros Oriental High School and the Provincial School ( now Negros Oriental State University) ,visiting English Professors in Foundation University and the SPC Sisters of St. Paul University first introduced French literature in Negros Island.       The Postwar era was the beginning of rediscovering literary pieces that were lost during the War, with the Tiempos of Silliman and Saavedra of St. Paul showing us to love literature and how we glimpse of the magic of each character in the story was immortalized. Larena ,KCR,MPA   The Team 302nd (Achiever) Brigade joined to commemorate the nationwide celebration of the 79th "Araw ng Kagitingan" on April 9, 2021 and the 123rd death anniversary of Leon Kilat on April 8 held at Camp Leon Kilat, Brgy Sta Cruz Viejo, Tanjay City, Negros Oriental. He is Lieutenant-General Pantaleón Villegas y Soldi who was born on July 27, 1873 at Bacong, Negros Oriental. His parents were Don Policarpio Villegas and Doña Ursula Soldi.
