March is women’s Month. This is the best time to give tribute to amazing women in
our community who gave us honor, pride, and contribution to the development
of the role of every woman in our society.
Amazing Negrosanon
She could be a mother, a young lady, a grandmother, a teacher, and women who
help promote women’s rights of whom she took great care, as well as for her
fellow countrymen, her friends, her work colleagues, and her whole family for
a better society.
She is well-known and admired in her community. The character of Authenticity,
Humility, Generosity, Respect of self and others, and Integrity.She continually
expressed love and charity to others. Let's meet these amazing women one by one
representing the different sector of women in Negros Oriental .
Dr. Angie Campoy -Young Ricardo a Psychologist and Education Professor
for 35 years, registered guidance counselor, psychometrician, and Head of Guidance
Center of Foundation University. She always reaches out to men and women
in the community giving lectures, consultation, and awareness of children's women rights.
Elsie Lee her humble beginning as a Chinese language teacher to a very successful
businesswoman. She is very active in Tourism. Arts and Culture, Consumer, Eastern Star,
Filipino –Chinese Community, Bell Church, and the Business sector but at the end
of the day, she is a loving wife, mother, caring daughter, and grandmother.
Civic leaders,Lilian Macay Diamond ,Jenny King and Linda Flores -Basmayor
Linda Flores- Basmayor is the voice of every woman being active as Consumer Advocate
Inc President and helping every human being in their consumer rights. She is very
active in helping the Talay Mental Health Center, Arts and Culture, and Heritage
Advocacies
Civic leaders Lilia Macay Diamond and Jenny King are well known for their charity
and civic engagement. They also encourage women and young girls to go into sports
like tennis, swimming, and golf. They promote local products that would represent the
culture of the place and help rebirth the art and culture on the island
Beauty and brains Atty. Pristine Martinez-Raymond, legal counsel of Edlaw Office,
Silliman Alumni Dumaguete Chapter vice president for internal affairs, President.
IBP Negros Oriental , Legal Consultant of the GWAVE Gender Watch Against Violence
and Exploitation (GWAVE). She helped the women sector of her hometown
Bayawan City and around Negros promoting women's rights and to
empowered women.
Bernice Anne Aseñas-Elmaco has been an active lady councilor chair of the
women and children committee, community volunteer of the Philippine Red Cross
which led her to become part of the Rotary Club of Dumaguete East. Apart from being
an active medical volunteer, Bernice has been at the forefront in implementing the
program started by her husband Atty. Lloyd Jeson L. Elmaco reaches far-flung areas
of our brothers and sisters who have less access to technology and health care.
ROSEL MARGARETTE Q. ERAMES Lawyer & Notary Public. A very young City
Councilor of Dumaguete City. Rosel is promoting youth development, education, and
women empowerment and together with her co - Councilor in the minority block,
they established PEACE FUND to help our medical frontliners. Bernice and Rosel
made an impact during the pandemic by giving free bugas( RICE) to our less fortunate
brothers and sisters in the community.

Bernice and Rosel continue to show their love and support to our brave and selfless
frontliners who tirelessly work and risk their lives every day to take care of Covid-19
patients/victims here in Dumaguete City, they are members of the minority have
decided to create the so-called PEACE FUND. The money we will raise for this fund
will be used to give a P5,000 cash aid to those frontliners who directly cater to Covid
positive individuals and contract the virus themselves in line of duty. This is our little
way of giving back for all your efforts and sacrifices. Salamat frontliners!

Queen Marie Truno Ferraren a mother,daughter,wife and mother of our thousands of
Boy Scouts in the Negros Oriental -Siquijor Council as Scout Council Executive
has to continue implementation of the youth development program,urban agriculture
project, virtual session with our young boys, and girls and collaboration with
other civic organizations projects on global platforms during the pandemic
In March in Negros Oriental we are dedicated to empowering women to achieve
their full economic potential by inspiring both women and men to become advocates,
change-makers and leaders in their community.
The best remedy for a difficult event that turns our lives upside down is to give
love freely and to receive the love that comes to us in return. Happy Women's Month.
