The Story of Dumaguete
The week-long celebration will begin on September 20 to 30, 2019 . Dumaguete is known as” City of Gentle People” beacause of the hospitality in how the people of Dumaguete treat their visitors. From a derived Visayan phrase “ Pakig Sandurot” which means to join in, the Sandurot Festival was created. The first event that was held at the Rizal Boulevard is the Panghimamat 2019 which means that we, Dumaguetenos always have a warn welcome of the neighboring towns, islands and other countries to our Beloved city. Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo leads the opening of the 31 st Sandurot Festival ; it was also attended by other local officials of Dumaguete City, Vice Governor Dr.Mark Macias, Board Member Mariant E. Villegas, Provincial Tourism Officer Myla Mae B. Abellana, Dr. Nicole Elman ,Councilor Lani Ramon,Penn T.
