100th Anniversary of Dumaguete's Manuel Quezon Park. Our keynote speaker, political historian & writer Manuel L. Quezon III, shared stories about his grandfather's three documented visited to Dumaguete ,Bais, Zamboanguita and Basay. He read parts of President Quezon's speech delivered at this same public park in November 3, 1938! We listened to how the Quezon family & Philippine. Government leaders evaded the Japanese forces, escaped on a torpedo boat from Negros Oriental and headed for Mindanao. September 17,1916 the public plaza was inaugurated by Manuel Luis Quezon.Many Historical, civic and government events .A monument of Dr. Jose Rizal with Maria Clara in the center of the park.The lot was donated by the Pastor /Patero Family .
The Morita Vintage fire truck on display near the balate is an eye catcher.It was used during World War II.There is also a bust of Don Diego de la Vina was the liberator of the people of Negros Oriental from the Spanish Rule,replica map of Negros & Siquijor and colonial fountain made by Italian Artist Rafaelo Palucci.The Dumaguete Tourism Office can also be found.Happy 100 years old Centennial Celebration !!!
